About Us
Our Mission: To grow and learn about fruits and vegetables in order to help the community access healthy food while learning problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Whole School Learning
We are exposing others to our garden knowledge by displaying information in our school commons area. This includes what we are planting that season, information about the various plants, and the students' learning in relation to our garden.

Thanks to Liberty Education Foundation, we now have a garden at Ridgeview called Good Seeds Garden! We really appreciate their support in our student's learning and helping our community!

Thank you Kansas City Community Gardens for partnering with us to help us learn about gardening, giving us our seeds at a discounted rate and helping us get the garden started! Thanks to Lowe's, for donating top soil to help us revitalize our soil following a rough winter! We really appreciate their support in making our garden run!
Thank you to L-Town Tees for creating our Garden Crew T-Shirts! We appreciate all the work you do with students and everything you do to give students with disabilities a chance to learn life skills. L-Town Tees are located within Liberty High School and allow students with disabilities to screen print t-shirts and get real world learning opportunitites. Check out the L-Town Tees Website and order t-shirts through them!

Adopt-A-Bed in Ridgeview's Good Seeds Garden
We are excited to share a wonderful opportunity for you and your family to be part of Ridgeview's Community Garden. As we continue to grow and care for our beautiful school garden, we invite families to adopt a garden bed and help nurture our shared green space.
By Adopting a garden bed, your family will have a chance to:

To adopt a bed, families and/or businesses can make a small donation that will give you recognition on one of our 8 garden beds. Donors will receive a logo sticker, a Donor Thank You Video, a subscription to the Garden Monthly Newsletter, and your name/ business name displayed in the office and on the adopted bed.

Seasons
Real World Learning
Real-World Learning
Through maintaining both the indoor and outdoor garden, students have several opportunities to practice real-world learning. In addition to the built in opportunities, older students participate in a garden economic system. They have to apply for jobs, participate in job interviews, job reviews and get paid once a month with paychecks. They additionally have to practice clocking in and out for their garden job shifts. Students then have the opportunity to invest their money into a bank and pay for rewards with their money! They get new jobs each month so everyone has opportunities to get different job experiences.
Job Applications
Students had to fill out a job application after learning about the different jobs working in the garden. Several students wanted the job that made the most money, but learned quickly to handle their disappointment at not having that job. Students were motivated to get that job later down the line by showing responsiblity and trusthworthiness with their entry level job positions. 5th graders have a position helping out the 3rd graders called a garden liaison. They help the 3rd grade manager to manage all of the 3rd grade students and help assist with any areas needed.
Job Interviews
After filling out the job application, students practiced doing mock interviews with Mr. Lewis. Students got to practice their social skills, as they are not as familiar with Mr. Lewis. They discussed why they deserved the position they wanted and Mr. Lewis gave them "glows" and "grows" based off of their interview performance.
Performance Reviews
Whichever student is the manager for the month sits down with Ms. Latham and all of the garden employees to grade them on their attitude, time-management, flexibility, and overall performance. They give suggestions and then ask which job they would like next month.
